Wire gauge

The gauge of a wire determines notable characteristics such as resistance, capacitance, and maximum current before things go terribly wrong. The gauge is specified as cable diameter, cross section area, or an American Wire Gauge (AWG) number. The higher the AWG number, the lower the thickness.
